A crucial mission for any heritage institution is to optimally preserve cultural objects and works of art for future generations. The collection environment is crucial in this context. To limit object deterioration, conservation teams need to ensure a correct and stable environment.
CHARP provides museums with a unique decision support software that brings together data from our discrete wireless sensor devices and from existing systems to monitor temperature, relative humidity, and light levels around valuable artefacts and collections. It provides detailed actionable insights and sensible alert handling. Moreover, it fosters effective communication with colleagues and external partners, and helps identify potential energy saving measures.
We are a spin-off company of KU Leuven with headquarters in Mechelen, Belgium. Our team comprises people from very different backgrounds: software developers, architects/engineers, business leaders, and journalists. In the coming months, we aim to grow our small yet dedicated and ambitious software team.
We are always looking for ways to help conservation teams better preserve and protect their collections. That's why we're looking for an experienced back-end engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll help us move forward by developing and maintaining our online software (SAAS), with a particular emphasis on the backend and dev-ops aspects of the stack.
You have experience working with IoT products and a strong interest in hardware development and IoT fleet management. You will help extend the core functionality of CHARP Art Care. You’ll build, test, document and ship new software features. You’ll also weigh in on our product roadmap, which we set collaboratively as a team.
This role is an ideal fit for someone who has been a lead on an agile team and has coached junior engineers in the past. The successful candidate will own and take responsibility for all technical aspects of designing, implementing, and deploying our software products.
We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If you’re excited about a role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply.

We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic.
Want to help conservation teams getting the job done? Come grow with us! We believe that our team's expertise, creativity and passion are what makes us stand out. We are thrilled to embark on this journey, and we can't wait to see what you'll bring to the table
